Anonymous asked: "However, if you’ve sent me a message every day for the last six months telling me to do something, that will make me far less likely to do it (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE)" WHAT?! What topic have you been asked to do that often?! I understand if you don't say in order to not embarrass the person but I'm still SUPER curious....

edwardspoonhands:

Every day I get the same anonymous message that is more or less a list of accusations leveled at Hillary Clinton phrased as a question. I think Hillary Clinton is a complicated person who has spent a great deal of time in the federal government and possibly understands it better than anyone who is not currently Barack Obama. Her opinions are well informed and similar though not-identical to mine.

My first election was George W Bush against Al Gore in 2000. That was an election that happened after eight years of a popular democratic president and the rhetoric of that election was full of “These people are identical…just two different masks on the same corrupt face.”

And then I watched as Al Gore lost an election he would have won were it not for Ralph Nader, and then George W Bush spent eight years getting us involved in wars that made no sense, destroying our international reputation, championing viciously anti-science perspectives, delaying the expansion of basic rights to the LGBT community, and leading our economy into the worst depression in modern history.

So I am very sensitive to the narrative that there is only one right Democratic candidate. I don’t know who it will be and frankly I don’t care that much. I can see costs and benefits to both Bernie and Hillary, but I know I would be proud to have either of them be my president. So, basically, to the person who says nasty things about Secretary Clinton in my inbox every day I say: My only concern is that FUCKING DONALD TRUMP DOES NOT BECOME MY FUCKING PRESIDENT. That would hurt my country and my world in ways that could be irreparable.

We’re talking about a great tipping point in history here. I understand the wish that we could all be coming together to vote /for/ something great (which is, by the way, how I will feel come November, but I understand that not all people are like me.) But nonetheless, we will all have to consider the greatness of voting against something this year. This is not Mitt Romney we’re talking about, not a successful, level-headed person with different views, we have a monumental chance to show the world what we’re made of.

Do we allow a racist, misogynist, fascist who actively derides free speech and believes that insults are the highest form of international relations to lead this country? Or do we elect one of two experienced, intelligent, leaders who believe that the United States does not need to be made great again, but that we can and must continue to make it greater.

Fuck your talking points daily asker…do you think this is a god damned game?
